Must. . . leverage. . . something. . .

So, I see KFC's "Snackers" now come with cheese. . . and still cost only 99 cents. How is this possible? Doesn't the cheese cost a couple of cents? Probably it is not actual cheese. Probably it is "pasteurized process cheese food." That is cheaper than real cheese. Any food where they have to put "food" in the name so that you know it is food--that is gonna be cheap. But still. Even if it's "food" food, it's still gotta cost a penny or two, right. I mean, there's oil in them thar food, right? And some yellow coloring. . . sodium. . . and probably a couple of drops of milk? Now we're probably up to about three or four cents per slice of "food." And yet the price of a Snacker is still only 99 cents? How is KFC doing this exactly? Are they just absorbing the cost of the "food?" Do they expect to make it back on increased beverage sales to wash down the "food?" Did they have to lay some people off to save money on salaries to balance out the free "food?" I don't want to be putting anyone out of work. No Snackers for me! Maybe that will become the new euphemism for "laid off."

"Dude, I just got Snackered!"

"No way! Wanna go get some KFC?"

"Yes, actually. How ironic. Or maybe it is just a coincidence."

"Wha?"

"Never mind. Oh, but wait. I'm unemployed and don't have any money for the new, improved Snackers (now with "food!"), even though they are still only 99 cents. Hmmm. . . I know! I will make a sign that says WILL WORK FOR 'FOOD' and hang out by the KFC."

"Dude, I could just buy you a Snacker."

"I don't want your charity. Now loan me a Sharpie and some cardboard."
